Prior to the pandemic, third-party delivery platforms like Deliveroo, Uber Eats, or Just Eat were the main enablers of online food delivery. But these platforms have often found themselves under fire for their steep commissions. 2020 fuelled the growth of cheaper alternatives in the form of online ordering systems (OOS), including StoreKit Takeaway. An OOS lets restaurants sell food online without the costs of a delivery platform, but without their marketing benefit. Today, many restaurants conduct a hybrid approach.
